Machines count ballots objectively, applying the same standards to all.

Not true. Machines cannot count the same batch of ballots the same way twice.

Hand counts, when done in teams of two counters and two observers, applying crosscheck methodology, are the most accurate type of count available.

Fraud can occur regardless of the method of counting.

Punch cards should be outlawed, because they are subject to wear. Mark sense ballots are sometimes rejected because the oval was not dark enough. Machines cannot read intent, but the law states clearly that voter intent is what counts.

I know a fellow that has arthritis so bad in his hands that filling out the bubbles on his absentee ballot is difficult for him as he cannot grasp the pencil well. He does the best he can in private. Now the machine may not read his ballot correctly, but a human being always will.

The law does not state that the ballot must be executed such that a machine will count it. It says that voter intent is what decides the validity of the ballot.

Sorry, but you are wrong about hand counts...they are the only way to ensure that the will of the people has been followed. This is especially true in very close elections.

As for care of ballots, and finding "new" ballots, That can be a problem. In Washington nearly every county found new ballots for both recounts. Clearly that is disturbing, but it is not in and of itself an indication of fraud. If so then almost every county in Washington was guilty of fraud.
