Richard, America was like a child of Great Britian. The way I see it, America was spawned from England. The United States wanted independence like a child at 18 fighting to move away from their parents. There was a small strugle, and we came out on top. Although the war with the British may be a significant part of United States history, I would hardly call it prolonged, bloody, or without meaning like the Vietnam war.

As for Princess Diana, I was not much of a Royal aficionado either. But the death of Princess Diana really shocked me. The lady was a humanitarian. Whether she did things for the unfortunate with the egenda of the royal image (I think she really wanted to help others), at least she did it. She stressed so much importance in seeing those in need just as much as her affairs with the heads of state.

Some NBC reporter in Paris stated that it probably shook the Anglo Saxon population more than the French population. Heck, I'm not even Anglo Saxon but I saw the significance of the loss.

Cheers,
