Did you see Jimmy Carter interviewed on Charlie Rose? A rare treat. Charlie kept pushing Carter to compare his religious beliefs with that of George W. Bush but Carter didn't want to comment. He finally said that he worshiped the Prince of Peace who came to minister primarily to the down-trodden and marginalized. He said he didn't understand how this was compatible with preemptive wars and the glorification of the rich. When Francis Schaeffer was still living it made him crazy how the Pharisaical wing of American Christianity had made him a poster child whose books they thought everyone should read - without ever realizing they were the very people he was criticizing. That's the fun part of Pharisees, everyone in the room knows what they're about while they themselves remain oblivious. .
