I agree with that. Problem is that it doesn't speak directly to the question of marriage. It's also probably fair to say that married couples are more likely to remain intact either because of circumstances that caused the couple to marry in the first place or because marriage is harder to to get out of than non-marriage. But that still doesn't make marriage causal.
