Hey, a lot of sheep have to die for all those diplomas. If diplomas meant nothing, I'd never be able to hang mine on the wall again - out of shame for the shorn<g>.

The notion of a non-local (non-personal) psychological field effects tickled me as a physics loving guy. I was intrigued by my own role in this mass psychosis theory. That alone was worth the read - ionesco and I have had this discussion before about how many memes parasitize humanity making them spend tremendous amounts of effort for naught. Pyramids, Stonehenge, Easter Island, Cathedrals.

When we were in Scotland, there were these huge piles of rocks people piled up (probably by people at the brink of starving). Clava Cairns was one of many. All done by bronze age people. Think of all the energy and effort people took from their daily lives of rearing sheep and growing a few measly roots to do this!

I sometimes think America is in a similar oil-fired opium dream. When we awake from it we will find that we have spent way too much time chasing hobgoblins around and too little of our resources saving, creating jobs, educating children and treating the sick and old. These are the things that really affect people's daily lives and I'm so sorry we haven't been tending to them.
