I understand, brian, you preferred the Chinese to be ruled by the Japanese earlier in the century rather than pay the price that was given to have the communist in charge, all because your mom did not seem to mind.

The price was the end of the civil war, a revolution, a deep cleansing, and yes, the very nasty slaughter of some millions.

The thing about civil wars throughout the entirety of history, admitted all wars are awful, is that the best party eventually win. And the best did, so far as we know, until and unless things change, and so we watch on the way to 2020.

What other realistic choice was on offer ?
