I don't hold my marriage out as a paragon. In fact, I do believe that the institution of marriage has held us together during times when personal antipathies might have driven us apart.

Sometimes social pressures, sometimes social benefits. Society rewards marriages and punishes extra-marital relationships in ways too numerous to count.

On the whole, it's a good relationship. 25 years in May. Just saying that sometimes society has tipped the balance in favor of continuing. Staying together for the children, and so forth.
