WIESBADEN, Germany (AFX) - German retail sales in November were down 2.5 pct in real terms from October, but were up a real 0.1 pct from the same month a year earlier, according to provisional figures from the Federal Statistics Office

The office said November had one less shopping day than the same month last year. The results were based on data from six federal states, in which some 81 pct of all German retail sales take place

On a nominal basis, November retail sales fell 2.7 pct month-on-month, and rose 0.2 pct year-on-year, the office said

In the first 11 months of this year, retail sales fell a real 1.5 pct and a nominal 1.4 pct from the comparable period in 2003, the office said.
