Wrong, Those 1870 stocks have all gone bankrupt with possibly
1 exception. The Dow is constantly re-jiggered dropping
weak and replacing with strong growth.

And there were no index option in those days to do it for you.
You can look back with the benefit of hindsight and pick
sectors, etc. But you would be affected by greed and fear and
not be able to keep your positions anyway. Just IMO.

On the other hand, buying land !!!
