You either are lack of histoy lessons or do not have a clue of what you wrote. Or other reasons such as that you are a better "frame" maker.
What I wrote was my mom generation was born as a Japanese colonized Taiwanese (after Ching dynasty gave it to Japan for almost 50 years) just like you or your father generation resided in British colinized Hong Kong.
Those Japanese treated Taiwanese pretty well if they did not engage in political activities to overthrow Japanese regime. (Sound familiar like your current situations under both China special zone ruled and British ruled Hong Kong?). My mom generation were raised either speak Japanese in school or Taiwanese at home. They were raised almost like a regular Japanese except did not have Japanese citizenships. Some Taiwanese were even drafted to fight Chinese troops (not sure about this part) and US troops then (no choice).
After WWII, then came 1949, Chiang troops were kicked out of China and entered Taiwan. Those Taiwanese thought they were liberated by Chinese and welcome them as their kins. Those Taiwanese did not speak maindarin at all. They could not communicate with each other. Chiang troops thought some Taiwanese were hidden as undercovered communists. They had to use "iron fists" to get rid of those possible weeds. There came "228 incidents". Taiwanese thus felt very disappointed with their so called Chinese kins.
After Chiang regime fell, then came your "there is no other way" CCP. We Taiwanese/Chinese are not indifferent like you. We do not want to go through Japanese rule/Chiang rule/now possible CCP rule again. Hence some think Taiwan Independence. Some maintain current status. But 90 percent do not want to be under CCP especially those CCP acted like barbarians. You are so used to be under colonization. You felt save and proud in Hong Kong either under British control or China CCP control. Fine by me.
My mom generation thought about what she had go through. She had this thought about Japanese ruled Taiwan were definitely a better choice than the past Chiang regime and the future CCP rule if happen. Why? It was all your own fabricated words to fit your single mind thinking process. OK? In fact, Taiwanese were not even aware of there was a civil war going on in China except some who did trades in China. Chiang troops and Mao troops were equally bad and filthy then. Luckily Mao troops were never in Taiwan ever yet.
And my mom generation are almost the same generation Lee Den Hui generation. Those corrupted Chiang and current corrupted CCP are definitely a no no in Taiwan.

You wrote you were indifferent in the outcome of possible Taiwan China war. You better think it over about your conscience and honesty. Maurice as a foreigner did a better job than you (my Chinese kin). CCP and YiWu claimed to get rid of Taiwan separatists in coming war if Taiwan goes independent. They specifically pointed to Chen Shui-Ban and Lee Den-Hui and groups. You konw how many Taiwanese in those "groups"? Those groups consisted of 50% of Taiwanese (about 11.5 million people) aacording to those who selected Chen as a president in the last election. You know how large a massacres that will be? And you worte me 1 billion plus robot Chinese against 11.5 million Taiwanese massacres? And you were worried about being "dogs of Asia" by Japanese ruled? Please do not double talk my friends. You either are a British lackey or a CCP lackey (under BubbaFred hats) to be indifferent under the situation. Yeah. It will not happen you will claim. However what if it happen?
