They are disinterested in world affairs to the extent that they have no interest in what makes other countries and societies tick, or what those "others" think about the US. Ever since Reagan started the rah-rah to restore America's faith in itself, the prevailing sentiment has been rah-rah #1 right or wrong. Anyone who objects is part of the problem, the "others", the "evildoers", they "hate freedom", and so on. The 44% represents the hate-talk radio audience that has been conditioned over decades to believe in the America first, last and always policy as a moral good. They couldn't care less about any other information or viewpoint, period. Why should they, they have been told repeatedly that America is the only country that really matters in the universe.
