Sounds like "We are the greatest city, the greatest nation
Nothing like us ever was"

americanpoems.com

Even if that is the prevailing sentiment, I would expect a bit more realism with regards to what is in the best interests of their country.

For example:

Is reelecting an administration who took the country to war on false premises in the best interests of our country?

Is disregarding the Geneva Convention in the best interests of our country, considering that our soldiers are positioned pretty much everywhere and are currently in active war and can very well be captured and tortured?

No matter how deeply we are convinced that our way of life better than everyone else's, is it in the interests of our country and countrymen to force our way of government down other people's throats? Especially those of a certain religion with fanatics already convinced that we are out for a crusade to rob them of their religion if not their lives?

etc etc
