Our paper this morning said to expect one to two feet of new snow in Reno by Monday, five more feet in Tahoe and eight more feet at higher elevations with 50 to 100 mph winds in mountain passes. Temps here are teens low to 30's high - normal highs are 45 and it only snows significantly about every 15 years. This new storm coming is expected to get snowfall total up near the 1916 record of 5-1/2 feet in Reno.

I was able to get to a supermarket yesterday afternoon and have enough food for at least a week, maybe ten days. Had to take ground turkey, they were out of lean ground beef and only had two giant 5-lb chub rolls left of 75% lean beef; too big an amount and way too much fat. I usually buy 96% lean ground beef. The turkey is 99% lean breast meat; but beef sure does taste better. The powers that be have been urging everyone to stock up for the coming storm because only about 10 to 20% of the streets are plowed from the last storm and residential streets will be left to melt. Shelves have been stripped and the town is out of shovels and snowblowers - Home depot received an extra shipment of 60 snowblowers and they were all sold before getting unloaded from the delivery truck Wednesday. Strange thing (???) how prices seem to be up above normal, too. Casino's are pissed; locals can't get there and tourists can't come with their money. Could we get some of the tsunami relief money sent our way? The part that will be "liberated" by the UN thieves? Casino's are our economic lifeblood and they need the money to help keep our unemployment near the nation's lowest, less than 3.5%. If you are looking for a job, come to Reno and bring food and a shovel. :~)
