DRAMeXchange: DRAM, NAND flash prices end 2004 lower
digitimes.com
....
NAND flash

High-density chips, such as 2Gbit, 4Gbit, and 8Gbit, had been in scarce supply in the past two weeks, but their spot prices have been on a downturn, with both 2Gb and 8Gb falling by 4% during the period.

Traders appeared to be clearing out their 2Gbit inventory at low prices, to fulfill their yearly sales goal. Prices for 8Gbit chips fell on Samsung’s price cuts. DRAMeXchange sees Samsung’s move as an attempt to push up the industry’s mainstream density, rather than a strategy reacting to Micron Technology beginning shipment of 2Gbit chips.

In the first week of January, DRAMeXchange has seen indications of stronger-than-usual January demand coming from both Europe and Asia. However, that will not reverse the current price trend.
