caveat emptor, but this post seems to have the feel of authenticity and may well represent a better marker as to actual infusions: <<However, scripts are far outpacing the numbers which have actually been infused. He heard <1000. He is also having similar problems with pre-authorizations....>>

<<I've heard 7500 prescriptions written and another neuro I know heard 8000 by a rep yesterday. However, scripts are far outpacing the numbers which have actually been infused. He heard <1000. He is also having similar problems with pre-authorizations (only 1 out of 12) and will begin to preauthorize in his office as the official process is so slow. I will need to consider doing the same as only 2 patients (out of 18 prescriptions) have been approved. He knows an MS center that has turned in about 50 prescriptions, but does not know how many have been infused. If we do the pre-authorization process in our office, we lose the guarantee of payment if the insurance companies don't follow through. I need to balance this risk with patient needs and will likely try to preauthorize a few on our own. I'll let you know next week how that turns out.

I think the companies did not give enough thought into the pre-authorization process and have now gotten themselves bogged down with 'too many' new prescriptions and few approvals. This will certainly slow the ramping up process, though the number of prescriptions is certainly high considering that the two year data is not yet out.>>
