Truth be told, it was reasonable to have different opinions on how to deal with saddam, particularly if there are no wmds either tb found or elsewhere. Demonization of saddam may have been overdone as we approached war, but now the de-demonization of saddam has gone much too far. And glorification of iraqi insurgents as freedom fighters is the other side of the same coin. We may not be able to subdue them in the triangle for a very long time. It may not be worth it for to continue the war but it should never be unclear as to who the good guys are in this fight. And thats what rankles me most. I may end up being on the same side with these folks if i think american interests can be served better by withdrawl to the north and south. I wont be comfortable breaking bread with some of these folks though.
Also, Rummy must go. Sometimes scapegoating can be a good thing. He has become symbolic of this failure and this is politics and its not like we would be killing him or members of his family. Sometimes, its just time to call it a career. He should resign for health reason and Bush can pick someone who has some gravitas. Mike
