Saying Saddam was not a threat- in terms of a justification for war, is NOT saying he was an innocent sweet lamb. I am surprised you do not understand that.

And depicting Saddamite Iraq as an idyllic place where boys fly kites, as Michael Moore did in 9/11, what is that? Show me anyplace where the Left has admitted any of Saddam's crimes? The most they ever do "sure he was a bad guy, but..." because they have no answer and they don't intend to provide any..

Instead we get a game of let's pretend. Saddam wasn't so bad. Well, if he was, there are others worse (not many). Sanctions were working (they were falling apart fast). He's in a box (the US was air patrolling that box every day, and the No Fly Zones weren't going to survive the demise of sanctions) The problem of sellers meeting buyers on the nuclear and CW black market was non-existent, Bush made it up! (how anyone can claim this after AQ Khan's Sams Club for Nukes came to light is beyond me). And so on and so forth.

The arguments have gotten so extreme and so detached from ascertainable facts that you do regularly get the impression that Saddam was some sort of persecuted innocent - and look! Ramsey Clarke has now flown to Iraq to defend him.

For the Left, anti-Americanism trumps all - if America is your enemy, all your sins are forgiven as if they had never been.
