Nadine, Mother Jones was covering the killing of Kurds in Iraq, BY Saddam WHEN they happened, before SI existed. I'm sorry you weren't aware that the left was active about that, but they were. I remember the pictures in the magazine at the time- unfortunately the people on the right were a little late to the party.
Your post is just amazingly ignorant. What the left is doing is NOT ignoring Saddam's crimes, but trying to put them in some sort of framework of risk assessment, and reaction. Saddam is a brutal dictator. I think Kim in N. Korea has killed more of his own citizens, by starvation, so in terms of a fascist kill rate I can't say Saddam is the worst- but for your benefit, let me add that this does not mean I think him an innocent little lamb.
Only you, and people like you, who desperately would like to believe that the left thinks Saddam is innocent because it's such an easy straw man to fight with, would get the impression you get. And NOW you throw in "For the Left, anti-Americanism trumps all - if America is your enemy, all your sins are forgiven as if they had never been."
Are there any rhetorical fallacies you aren't going to use? That last line is just insane. It's impossible to take you seriously anymore.
