Cacaito, Re:

" Per K. who will be the subject of the takeover? Vivus, Any company taking Vivus
will have to pay a very steep premium (50% to 100%) and probably few has the
money for this ( $2 to $3 billions ). Vivus can take over other smaller and struggling
companies, Zona could be one Vivus could be a winner here with or without FDA
approval of Zona's phentolamine. Zona just raised additional $60 million dollars in
secondary offering, not bad, and harder to takeover.".

Two points:

a) Pfizer would be one most likely buyer IMHO: others, J$J.Buying
Vivus would be the cheapest way to get hold of their technology
patents in intraurethral administration, and would be money better
spent than in R&D ( higher yield, gg).

b) I STRONGLY DISAGREE with Vivus buying Zona. I think Zona is all hype.
There is NO WAY Cacaito phentolamine will see the light of day
orally through the FDA. You are a pediatric intensivist ( I assume )
so you should know what kind of devastating side effects (FREQUENT )
for that matter will occur from the hemodynamic point of view
in a +/- 70 year old with arteriosclerosis taking phentolam.
I think Zona's IPO was bougth by pie in the sky investors lured
by Magnum type PR by Zona's management and who are dreaming
" for the pill " that will cure impotence " . Aaaahh, " The Fountain
of youth " dream of Ponce de Leon, springs eternal!!

TA

PS Can you get in the web a write up of the side effects of phentolamine
and post them for this thread to look at?I think it will be of great
help in assessing " the competition"!! gg. I don't look up my medical
info in the web ( no time;easier for the librarian to get it from
medline for me ), but I wonder if you use it. ( Maybe you can show me also how to
get it " for future use" gg!!)
