Hello EP, <<They would really to a nasty and complete job on a landing craft...>>
I think by the time landing crafts land, and they will come, with or without permission, perhaps during a holiday window, when garrison troops mysteriously are let go to visit relatives, and in-Taiwan telecom and Taiwan-ROW undersea cable links are under strange repairs, just a guess, there will not be any opposing troops manning the beach bunkers, as the:
(a) Totally infiltrated Taiwan command/control system will have been issuing not-so-astute orders,
(b) Taiwan commanders, by family investment and hopes for well-being, will have made suitable arrangements with new arrivals on the landing crafts,
(c) Welcoming committees representing unions, capital holders, farmers, and such will miraculously appear on the streets with appropriate banners,
(d) Media and such will have magically pulled out long prepared briefings,
(e) A bunch of large countries will almost instantaneously issue congratulations for end to Chinese civil war,
(f) What troubles makers there are, the then 'terrorists', long identified, will have been pulled in everywhere in Greater China, their accounts frozen and factories confiscated, to be redistributed to then 'patriots',
(g) 24 hours later, news will be that the Pacific Lake is filled to the brim with 240 nuke-armed submarines,
(h) Then Taiwan authorities of various levels will be issuing different and perhaps confusing signals, followed by some car accidents, and retractions;
(i) The Generals of the US (Motors, Electric, JPM, C) and such advises caution and announces that they look forward to return of tranquility;
(j) Referendum is held in Taiwan, results announced; and
(k) Game set, match, done, and over with.
No pro and no con, just figuring what could be, and pretty straightforward at that.
