It's not individual investment, it's a safety net. It's income redistribution, maybe a bit of (GASP!) socialism, if you wish. That's where you're confused. It's not helping me, I make a ton of money and am not worried about my future. It's helping people who aren't as smart, aren't as driven, aren't as fortunate.
