Al Qaeda poses almost no direct threat to me whatsoever -- that is a fact. The most direct impact of al Qaeda on my life is that my Government has used al Qaeda as an excuse to pursue some extremely dangerous and unwise policies. I feel deeply sorry for the Iraqi people -- their suffering has been deep and profound. The same could be said for the Palestinians. An end to war is possible, but the policies we are pursuing today are not moving us closer to peace -- they are merely institutionalizing war.
