Some things, such as the sun rising tomorrow [even if I don't see it] are very, very certain. As sure a sure thing as I can immediately think of. Other its, such as me getting up RIGHT NOW and continuing my get fit campaign, are less inevitable.

So far, reporting on the Feather Duster Manoeuvres, one nuclear-powered submarine is out of action, unexpectedly and contrary to fail-safe, nothing can go wrong plans. I'm sure there will be plenty of other sudden changes in expectations too before the year is out and the manoeuvres are complete. The Kursk went down with all hands not so long ago, so even without active shooting, things can go bad on manoeuvres.
If the manoeuvres lead to the real thing, there is sure to be a LOT of people finding their best laid plans of mice and men going awry. It's inevitable. There will be cheap feather dusters for sale come next Xmas.
