John,

That is very interesting and is news to me. Thanks for posting it. I just did a fast search on the web and came up with this:

www.sec.gov/rules/final/34-50103.htm

Summary :

***On January 3rd , 2005 the SEC is implementing a revised Regulation Sho / Affirmative Determination with strict rules for Market Makers to CLOSE OUT all naked short positions on all stocks in compliance with RULE 203, “Locate and Delivery Requirements for short sales”. Compliance Date: The compliance date for §§242.200 and 203 is January 3, 2005.
.

****Beginning January 10th, 2005 the SEC will DAILY PUBLICIZE ALL stocks where the Market Makers in each stock that has not complied, where traded shares have “NOT” been accounted for, which will force the Market Makers to buy shares of the Naked short or just plain short company's shares.

My take on the above dates is that the short squeeze has already happened. The 10th is just the date given to publicize the list of anyone (the mms) who has not complied.

I am willing to bet that all or most of the mms have already complied.
