[Since more and more Chinese farmers refuse to be exploited by sweatshop now, the sweatshop owners have to relocate. Good News!) --"Bigger Taiwan investments seen" (in Philippine)

By BERNIE CAHILES MAGKILAT

Biger Taiwanese investments inflow to the country is expected next year as Taiwanese firms in mainland China may relocate here following higher cost and shortage of labor in China, the creation of a bigger ASEAN market and the “go south” policy of Taipei.

This was the assessment of Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) representatives Hsin-hsing Wu during a press conference with reporters.

But Wu was quick to add that Philippines must enhance its overall investment climate particularly its infrastructure to attract more Taiwanese investments.

According to Wu, Taiwanese investors in mainland China are experiencing labor shortage and higher labor cost.

The Taiwanese firms cannot also relocate to the rural areas of China because the infrastructure there are bad.

"So, some of these companies are looking at neighboring countries like Philippines and Vietnam as relocation sites," Wu said. Philippines and Taiwanese are the closest neighbors in terms of location.
