Clarke piles it on thick. Any one of his disaster scenarios is possible, but the idea that there could be this continual cascade is considerably less probable than another airliner flying into a skyscraper here.

I am amused, though, by your glib writeoff of Clarke's conclusions vis. W's war in Iraq, and by you citing Frank Rich from that notoriously disreputable rag, the NYT. Why isn't some hothead off in the warblogosphere on hand with the correct interpretation? Oops, looking back at your edits, I see they're hot on the case. I see your chosen representative cut off the quotes at just the right place.
