Good grief, can you read the text honestly or do you prefer to fight? I guess the latter.

The "cascade" takes place over a number of years and is not continous.

My "glib writeoff" re: Iraq has nothing to do with what Clarke says. He does in fact assign a lot of causes other than Iraq to his fictional conclusion but does include it as well. I don't ignore it or write it off. One of many. Since you are fixated on Iraq, I suppose it's natural to expect you to emphasize it and to ignore the fact that AQ has been planning and carrying out attacks well before the war was a gleam in your favorite neocons' red eyes. Surveillance of casinos, hmm, before Iraq. WTC, hmm, 1993. Embassies, hmm, you get the drift....probably not.

Oh, well. The more things change the more they stay the same with you.
