I'm willing to make a wager.

More than 95% of the people who own guns have never read the Constitution. Most of these people are ignorant and apathetic WRT the 2nd amendment. They don't know anything about it, and they don't care to know anything about it (that's kind of a joke).

Most people who own guns (other than those who use it for hunting and sport)own guns to protect themselves and maybe their families rather than to protect the Constitution or to ward off enemy invaders. More likely they would use it to whack people they don't like (just like Tony Soprano).

Except for Unclewest and a handful of people like him, few people own guns for patriotic reasons.

I have nothing to back up my statement - no URL's - nothing. And, I'm not putting up anything for the wager <g>.
