Homebuilders watch:

DHI released prelim results at the end of every quarter. Last 4 qtrs, they announced 1/8/04, 4/8/04, 7/8/04 and 10/7/04. This is the 10th already and still nothing. I assume they should have a PR after close today.

As far as closings and earnings, I see no chance that they are going to miss. Look at their earnings history and how conservative the analysts estimates are, they should in fact have another one of those blow out quarters.

However, all eyes (mine anyway) are going to be on the backlog and the orders numbers. DHI is probably one of the most diversified builders so it should be a very good indicator.

On a somewhat related matter, Southern California has been raining and raining and raining. I would be shocked if that is not going to impact orders and push outs. Northern California has been raining too but they are more used to it and may not have much impact.

We shall see soon?
