The government is us or it should be. The problem with tobacco is that it was an ok product for a long time (so was asbestos) until events converged to allow the industry to be sued. Who knows how many products we blithely use today are in the same position?

If someone can draw a direct line between eating at McDonald's or Krispy Kreme and their health problems, can they be sued? Probably.

I don't think there's a big hand that points to one product or service and says, 'that's evil' or 'that's perfectly ok' or 'they should be sued.' It's just chance, the situation, money and sufficiently motivated people.

The problem with the FDA is the cushy-cushy and very direct relationship it has with the very companies it is supposed to regulate. That's the problem with the entire government. It's corruption, pure and simple.

It's idiotic that any government agency designed to regulate an industry should have any ties to that industry. Aren't there enough individuals who don't come from that industry or who won't be going there aftewards?

Why don't people get more outraged by Billy Tauzin who pushed through the inane Medicare Bill which gave drug companies a 1/3rd increase in profits AND made it illegal for the government to negotiate prices. Eh?

Noe Tauzin, the corrupt, is getting his $2m/year lobbying position with...Phrma the lobbying group for the drug industry. Eh? Whazza?

This isn't a surprise, it was well known that he was negotiating for the position BEFORE the bill was passed. Eh? Whazza?

Corruption. Pure and simple. Jail these miscreants instead of complaining about how long suffering consumers are beating up on huge conglomerates in court.
