Rabin himself was one of the Irgun gang That's like saying that Ulysses S Grant was one of Robert E. Lee's commanders in the Confederate Army! Rabin was a commander of the Palmach, the elite Haganah division. Far from being a member of the Irgun, he was the commander who sank the Altalena, the Irgun's supply ship that ran the blockade in contravention to David Ben Gurion's order. This was in June 1948, when Ben Gurion brought the Irgun to heel.
