But the we no longer have militias drawn from the people using the people's guns Legally we do, whether or not they are useful, or even used at all is another question. But even if they are obsolete it doesn't change the meaning of the amendment any more then if newspapers and printing presses stopped operating it would make the "freedom of the press" clause in the 1st amendment inoperative.
