The panel hasn't got a "smoking gun," but it never would have happened if Mapes and Rather didn't want to get Bush. Firing the producers was really bad. All they did was approve a final cut of the story before it went on the air. Plus they wouldn't take on Rather afterwards when the story fell apart. But neither would the president of CBS news.

Again, it's the "story about the story" that interests me. Seeing how the rest of the media handles it. I have now posted enough from the Bloggers involved to give everyone a good taste of what is wrong with the report, and who really was to blame. I will now start posting the media's reaction.
