Killing people feeds terrorism and does not get at its roots.

add indiscriminately and you are certainly correct. And that has happened in iraq because although we try like hell not to in general war these things are likely. However Iraqi terrorists as pointed out by Brooks today in the NYTimes represent only a small portion of the population. The jihadists are from without and the baath/sunni/nationalist group are the ones who benefit by the accidents of war.
What strikes me as funny is that elections generally credited as democratic were held in two islamic countries==one occupied by the US and the other by Israel. You think the arab street may be pondering that point at all rather than believing all the arab media crap? The saddest thing for me to contemplates is that in a 95-5 pro dem environment in iraq, the 5%ers have a decent chance of winning in the Triangle and there may be little we can do to prevent it.
