John, you might do better for yourself, if you spend more time reading the www.ssa.gov 2004 report. That is factual analysis, whereas the media prints opinion. Read the 2004 report and then use whatever finance knowledge you have to make your own calculations. If you want more info, then read up on the Fidelity Freedom Funds or any other horizon fund family. Take those two things in combination and maybe you will start to realize the power of a privatized system. You see, Democrats may be satisfied with everyone having a system that provides insurance to our seniors so they can live at the poverty level if all their retirement plans fail. However, I am only satisfied by a system that provides a GOOD retirement for our seniors, through enforced savings and through using the 228 years of finance knowledge in this country to create a retirement system unmatched anywhere in the world.
