Apple is doing a low cost Mac. I saw that it is 499 and 599 depending on the processor but details are sketchy right now. Haven't seen anything about a flash based iPod. It seems that the low price for the day was shortly after Jobs started his keynote, people probably being disappointed in not hearing about the new mac right away, not realizing Jobs penchant for adding one more thing to the end of his talk.
