To see how it works in practice look a NYC and others who have gun laws that don't allow their residents to own them.

What you described is the worst case scenario--they confiscate what weapons they find legally in the course of other business. Stay on the right side of the law and keep your weapons out of plain sight and there's almost no chance that the cops will be in a position to do so.

I realize that that scenario is not acceptable to gun aficionados. I don't mean to minimize it or condone it it. I'm just saying that's the greatest risk. No one will come and search house to house for guns. It's ridiculous. And even if they did, they'd never get but a fraction of them.

[BTW, you'll notice that NY and Washington and maybe SF get to make guns illegal despite the second amendment. So much for the might of your precious trump card. It's the will of the people, not that document, that counts, baybee...]
