Of course you believe that I didn't understand your post. However, my answer was doing the best with the hodge podge that you presented.

You begin by saying that Europe failed to act when Hitler was rampaging through Europe. They were unwilling to confront the evil he presented. You suggested that Islam is evil much in the way fascism under Hitler was evil and that we need to learn our lesson from Europe and stop Saddam [and OBL and Islam] in their tracks. In fact, according to you, we need to restructure the entire ME.

Well, first off your whole analogy is off. Hitler was the very embodiment of fascism. He created it. Islam was founded by Muhammad who has been dead for over a thousand years. There is not one person living who can be designated as the single and most important person of Islam. Furthermore, Hitler represented one nation...........Islam represents many nations. To call an entire religion evil smacks of a kind of hysteria that I chose to ignore in my responding post.

And if Islam is the enemy why did we attack Saddam? His was one of the most secular of ME countries. In fact, he was proud that the Iraqis were much less religious than their fellow Muslims. So if the evil is Islam aka OBL, why were we attacking someone who was secular and contained?

Finally, I need to repeat this over and over again until you all see it. In your statements, you condemn an entire religion and more than a billion people. Forget that there are countless millions of Muslims who are hard working and good people. Forget that there are countless Muslim leaders who do not applaud the violence of a OBL. I have met a few Muslims and found them to be some of the nicest, most honorable of people. Islam is not evil; however, there are Muslims who are just like there are evil Christians, Jews and Buddhists.

Not only are your statements a gross generalization but its the kind of messed up thinking that will be this country's undoing. The Republicans have a history of being xenophobic. They are the last people who should be leading this nation in a time of mass globalization. Bush himself rarely had been out of this country before he took office and does not have a clue as to how to deal with other nations.

So I didn't misunderstand you but your lack of understanding of the problem makes responding to you very difficult.........and frustrating.
