I don't think it has playlists. And that's the rub. Without a screen you scroll blind on the songs. With 240 songs that's going to be a pain in the neck if you are trying to find one song to play.

So I think the iPod Shuffle is going to be very very hard to call. It all depends on whether consumers want their music that way. I suspect that plenty will. Some people will love the shuttle feature. It's still not what I want but I think the indiscrete consumer will go for these things. There will be some cannibalization of the iPods thought. I'm intrigued by pod casting. I'm wondering if and how pod casting is going to work on these machines. Maybe it won't. Maybe that's because Apple doesn't want the iPod Shuffle to compete with the iPod.

The mini Mac is a great product. I think Apple is finally there with the combination of OSX and the minis. The Cisco thing is a huge thing in my mind. With so many knowledgeable IT people looking favorably on UNIX and the new servers I think they will sell a gazillion of these. I see them gaining some market share. I now think they are going to do it. Grandma can have one now without having the kids protect her from viruses or spyware. $499 is cheap enough for poor people even. No crashing machines. No system reinstalls. Easy access to the net. The Keyboard thing is not a problem,

I'm amused that Apple is bragging that it supports two button wheel mice out of the box. Petulant Steve will accept them but he won't sell one.

The iWork suite will also help sell the mini.

Interesting Steve going on about iPhoto and RAW format. I'm getting the impression that Apple is not only going after Microsoft. I think they see themselves as going after a considerable portion of Adobe too. Certainly for consumers Adobe software is probibitive and the learning curves are pretty high compared to iPhoto.

Not a spectacular set of products but a lot of what Apple needs. I think Apple has finally got it all together.

I also think consumers have gotten a lot more computer savvey. Macs are being looked at as better UNIX machines now instead of TOYS. UNIX means servers, net, sophisticated. Plus NO viruses or spyware.

No one has mentioned that Apple is now getting into book publishing. I think that's a brilliant idea.

I think all this bodes well for Apple to gain market share.
