Sounds as if the parties have handled it the best they could. The judge has allowed enough in that is relevant, yet admonishing the jury, fwiw.

The defense certainly wouldn't open the door futher as it would further open the door for the prosecution.

The case is about the charges. We, on message boards, tend to speculate about lots of conspiracies, but it sounds as if the jury is going to be instructed properly and to the point of the counts in the complaint.

As others have pointed out, it's not about whether they are good guys or bad guys. It's about whether they did the crime. Committing a crime is not excused if it is under the guise of getting information on other bad people.
