People will get sick of the prices and the pretense.
I was a charter member of Whole Foods back in the days when you got a discount for being a member. Don't remember the exact number but it was around 200. 232, maybe.
That was - gosh, more than 25 years ago, maybe 30? (Just checked their website, they opened in New Orleans in 1974. People don't seem to be tired of them yet.)
Shopped there Monday (West Springfield). Bought some very nice no-gluten almond scones, brown rice cereal, cage free organic brown eggs, free range organic chicken, and Meyer lemons. And a bottle of melatonin. We shop there, on average, once a week. I prefer to buy meat and produce within a day or two of using it, so we go to one grocery store or another every other day, on average.
Re: attitude. If you're talking about the New Orleans Whole Foods on Esplanade by the old race track, my experiences there are that the staff is always very friendly and helpful. But then, I almost never get attitude from help staff. Maybe you should try smiling? ;^)
I really like that particular location. They have tables and chairs outside on a patio so you can eat the goodies you bought, and the atmosphere is very nice, banana trees and elephant ears. Living in New Orleans, you probably take stuff like that for granted. |
