Now that Bush himself is finally ready to admit that there were simply NO WMDs and NO PROGRAM, where are all those people who want to correct him? (link:http://abcnews.go.com/2020/Inauguration/story?id=406639&page=1)
There were scads of them all around various threads telling the skeptical contingent that there were WMDs and there was even an "Easter Egg Hunt" (as it was called by the troops) to prove the existence of that which simply didn't. I want to hear all those people call the President the names that were applied to those who said that we should wait to find out if there were really WMDs in Iraq.
Another thought crossed my mind today. Now that arithmetically we are quickly approaching the same number of years that elapsed between Pearl Harbor (Dec. 7, 1941) and the End of WWII (Sept. 2, 1945), do you suppose that peace is anywhere in the crosshairs? In that war, a great number of people died, mostly European, mostly civilian. In our President's war, very few Americans died by comparison, but it just seems to drag on and on and on. Now the incremental number is 1400 troops (half of the 9/11 attack, almost) PLUS an undisclosed number of American contractors. We can't even come up with an estimate for Collateral Damage, as it is called. For what? So the President can say, years later, "It was worth it." Worth it? To whom? |
