They can spin these spiraling import price numbers anyway they want, but for 2004 prices were up 6.7% with energy and up 3.7% excluding energy. On the later Dec was up 0.5%, following 0.9% in Nov, clearly inflationary numbers. And now energy prices are taking off again from Dec's lows.
