Telkonet's High-Speed Internet Access System to be Installed in all 31 Sandman Hotels

GERMANTOWN, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 13, 2005--Telkonet, Inc. (Amex: TKO - News), the leader in commercial powerline communications (PLC), announced today it has signed a contract to install its high-speed Internet access system in all 31 Sandman Hotels, Inns and Suites located throughout Canada.. Four Sandman hotels located in Alberta already have Telkonet's system installed, with the remaining 27 hotels to be installed by the end of May 2005.

Telkonet's system uses powerline communications (PLC) technology to enable the transmission of data over existing electrical wires within a building. In doing so, it is not necessary to install new or dedicated wiring or cabling, resulting in simple and quick installation. Once the system is installed, virtually every power outlet throughout a building is converted into a high-speed data network. Hotel guests can access the Internet from any electrical outlet throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, meeting rooms, and public areas. In addition, the system is reliable and secure, as data is encrypted and is secure from outside intrusion, ensuring that no users can access other users on the network.
