<<I thought the sec ruled pre ipo companies couldn't peddle off promotional shares?>>

When? and how was it worded. In other words, was it companies that were set to go public couldnt do this or any private company...cause at the time, they were noplace close to going public...Hell, I figured they were some start up being run by 1 or 2 computer geeks in their basement and only registered cause I had 20 minutes to kill...and they didnt go public until quite some time ( years) after this promotion....but anyway, go read the news timeline..rather interesting, although I must admitt, I am now kicking myself for not registering 1000 times <lol>

I think this goes back to maybe 1996 - 98

I also know there was some problem with the promotion. It seems they made a deadline for people that had free shares to claim them and get the certs, but they made no effort to tell anybody....so, some people got their shares, others were told they were too late....The company came under pressure and decided to make it up to those that didnt get their shares....It's all in their news timeline and fairly recent...within last few months....But, I got the 10 shares per registration I was supposed to get and the certs have already been sold, so I had no problems.....
