Now the second time I've seen that referenced (first was some SCI? annual report posting). I don't believe it. I think there's a general migration from PTH to SMT. Really not that difficult now for most co's. Call up Panasonic, et. al. asking for equip. quote and training. Can contract out design until employee designers become familiar. Plenty of seminars to teach SMT processs to mfg. or just hire a process engineer. Start out slow, grow with experience. Can do it for couple-three hundred G's I'd guess. (Of course to have 175 lines like SCI... that IS a competitive advantage. But I don't see barriers to entry.) JMO.
