R.D., I don't think we have an argument, or at least not a major one. I should have used "Intelligent Design" for clarity of my point.
No, I don't hold to a literal interpretation of Genesis, either with respect to when humans first appeared or to the Adam and Eve story. They are, as you say, parables.
However, given that I am sceptical of evolution theory, I guess there is some creationism in my beliefs. As I just mentioned to Ionesco, the fossil record contains no examples of one species gradually morphing into an entirely different species -- e.g, something that is "half horse" and half some entirely different specie.
I don't know how we got here. But I don't think anyone else does, either.
