Jimmy Carter was every bit as open about his faith as Bush. And as far as I can tell, not far different theologically.

DMA, it's not about being religious. You're right. Carter was every bit as expressive about his faith. But Carter never said anything that struck me wrong. He never said anything that came across to me as considering the non-religious to be second-class citizens. Believe me, if he had I would have noticed.

It may have been simply that Carter never had occasion to talk about the meaning of religious freedom. I just don't remember.
