Ion, I am not big on the idea of deuling-by-Google.

The transitional fossil controversy is well-known. Each of us could line up scientists on either side of the debate as to whether the theory of evolution may be in a state of crisis as a result of the controversy (I believe there is at least one very reputable book with a title such as that).

Your interests are in teaching children and you cannot do that by presenting them with scientific papers to read. You need to present them with theories that stand the test of logic and common sense.

If you a tell a child that humans evolved from amoebas over billions of years, someone is going to hold up their hand and ask you what kind of creatures came in between. They might ask if you can sketch a picture on the board of some of these creatures at intermediate stages where one species was changing into another species.

In the brief article I posted to you, Dr. Patterson said he couldn't do that. Perhaps you think you could do it.

Another child might ask you, if we evolved from ape-like creatures (just the last 1/16th inch on the yardstick) then how come there still are ape-like creatures around? Why did some of the apes evolve all the way until they became humans, while other apes stayed just as they are? Do you have a good answer for that child?

You and I no doubt have different approaches to a topic such as this. As I stated here (and explained why) in another context this morning, I do not have great trust in people just because they are scientists. I won't simply take their word for evolution, or anything else.

I'm pretty old to be a child, but we do have some things in common. One of them is that we both want explanations that stand the test of logic.
