There was violence from early on in the british mandate period, at least by 1920, as soon as large scale jewish inmigration started ..... yes it was stirred up by the Mufti et al, they could see what would be the result of the country being swamped with jews ... anyway that is what religion does ... it would be best, when looking for a land without a people, to take especial care to find a land without a people who don't have some whacko religion either

The hashemites were getting well rewarded with Cis-Jordan, about that time, so yes they were happy ... don't know this other name ... but yes it's a fact that there were good relations with many, business deals and solid friendships .. this had been the case for years before, of course, and was to be upset by the coming tide and the reaction it stimulated

Yes, 'palestinian' was then a term applied by zionists to themselves, and no, Palestine had never been a nation before, it had always been under somebody else's empire, but still the inhabitants were human beings, with a right to self-determination, so saying these things does not aid the case for those who would ethnically cleanse the indigenous

There was no nationalism for anybody, only two hundreds years ago, it's one of those little gifts Napoleon left us .... people used to identify themselves more by other means, culture, ethnicity, religion, and/or a geographic region that tended to be smaller than current nations ... there was no Italy yet, no Germany, though the concept of Volk had been known and felt for some time .... without a sense of nationalism it was possible to have empires, and it was much easier to operate colonies

Arabs got the first stimulus to nationalism right around the time of Balfour, from Lawrence who promised them independence if they helped out with the turks .... conflicting promises, oh joy ... and these two opposing semite factions both lean to an unhealthy form of nationalistic fervour, based on religion, language, ethnicity ... mutually exclusive, guaranteed trouble, Whackenstaats

Anyway Nadine, it serves nothing to pretend that this was 'a land without a people', or that an invasion was not forced on this people without their consent ... that they are handling their situation poorly is not contested, still it is a mistake to ignore that a great wrong was inherent in zionism, and quite a bit too recently, long after such wrongs were popular .... cheers
